It’s great to see so many people rowing this week, including a Senior Mx VIII.
Thanks to everyone who continues to do the right thing – booking in before the outing on FitClub, using the hand sanitiser on entry and exit from the club house, putting on face-masks inside the club house, washing and using Hycolin spray on boats and blades.
Unfortunately, the COVID positive cases recorded in our area continue to rise (currently 5x what they were a month ago!) resulting in increased concern and surge testing where many members live. We MUST be careful and vigilant!
1. It is a legal requirement that we have accurate Track and Trace records. Most people are good at booking in on FitClub, but not everyone does. I have reminded people when I see them not booked in so, please ensure that it’s not you who arrives without having booked in. The old Google form method is still ok for anyone not registered. Junior recording is excellent thanks to Megan and Hugh.
2. Hygiene at at the club is critical – there are reminders to use a face covering when entering the club house, and to use hand sanitiser on entry and exit. There’s no excuse not to do this. Washing boats and blades and using Hycolin spray sanitiser on touch-points cannot be compromised.
3. Showers and changing rooms must remain closed except for an emergency (i.e. after capsize). I had hoped we could open up on 21st June, but you will be aware that the next step in HMG roadmap is postponed.
4. When coxing a crew-boat, British Rowing recommends that face and eyes are covered. Terry has arranged for some face shields to be at the club by Sunday.
5. Be aware that social distancing is necessary. When carrying a crew boat and 2m isn’t possible, then wear a face covering.
These measures are necessary to protect the health of members and to stay legal, so we can continue to enjoy rowing on the lovely River Aire. If you have queries, concerns or difficulties, I will be at the club tomorrow afternoon and Sunday morning, and available by phone most of the time.
Stay safe. John
